9 Bass Review

Microgaming keeps recruiting new developers all the time, and 9 Bass is Oros Gaming’s debut release on the popular platform. They’ve been bold enough to take on the popular fishing slot genre in their very first release, and they’ve included the equally popular Epic Strike instant scatter prize concept. It all sounds pretty good on paper, but we weren't too impressed by the end result to be honest.

The static backdrop is limited in detail, but you get some okay symbol animations here and there. Bass symbols is what you really want though, as 9 of these in view is enough to crack the 2,000x potential. The bonus round comes with an x2 or x3 win multiplier, but it will not boost any scatter prize winnings. Overall, 9 Bass is an okay first attempt, but it will most likely not make a huge splash.

9 Bass Slot Features

The premium symbols consist of single, double and triple lucky number 7s, and they pay between 7.5 and 37.5 x your stake for 5 of a kind wins. Any combo of single, double or triple 7s pay 3.5x your stake for 5-oak.

9 Bass Slot Gameplay

The Wild symbols step in for pay symbols to help complete wins, and it’s also the highest value symbol in the game. Landing 3, 4 or 5 wilds on a payline awards 6.5x, 25x or 125x your stake, respectively.

The Bass Symbol is the Epic Strike instant scatter jackpot symbol, and you need at least 3 anywhere in view to win a prize from the Epic Strike jackpot ladder seen on the left. More precisely, you win 1, 5, 15, 40, 100, 500 or 2,000 x your stake when you land 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 scatters at the same time, respectively.

Landing 3 Free Spins symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4 triggers the Bonus Round, and you start by spinning a big bonus wheel. The wheel gives you between 10 and 30 free spins, as well as an x2 or x3 win multiplier. The win multiplier does not apply to bass scatter jackpot prizes, and you can retrigger the feature to get the same amount of additional spins you got in the first place.

Review Summary

First of all, it seems strange to pepper the paytable with only red 7 symbols at the top. This is a fishing game after all, not a fruit slot. Looking past that, decent base game payouts are possible, and you also get the popular scatter prize concept implemented here. The 2,000x top prize isn’t all that impressive however, and neither is the overall presentation in 9 Bass.

The backdrop is static, something the “frozen” bubbles only accentuates, and we didn’t really get that cozy and idyllic vibe many similar games come with. You get either an x2 or x3 multiplier in the bonus round, and it would’ve helped if the multiplier also applied to the scatter jackpots. This is sadly not the case however, and 2,000x is the overall max win as well. A decent debut from Oros, but nothing too memorable either.
